DSbD All Hands networking event - 7th May 2021 - Blog
Last week, the Discribe Hub+ hosted a DSbD All Hands networking event for projects working towards the DSbD Challenge, on Friday 7th May 2021, via Gatherly.
Attendees were invited to learn more about other projects working towards the Challenge, and create connections with others to enhance their research.
The aim of the event was to connect the current projects working towards to the DSbD Challenge to each other, giving an opportunity to showcase their work and research, and allow connections to be made where there is synergy within the research for future work.
The session started with an introduction from our Director - Prof. Adam Joinson - who introduced the Discribe Hub+, the rest of the day's agenda and how to use the new platform.
The talks continued with an update from John Goodacre, Director, Digital Security by Design on the Digital Security by Design (DSbD) programme, to bring all the projects up to speed on the current progress.
Robert Watson discussed the work on the CHERI platform that has taken place in the last year, and the software ecosystem they've been building, including updates from each of the four organisations in the consortium working towards this.
After a short comfort break, where delegates could use the event platform to network and have discussions, we were introduced to one of the larger projects who had received funding from the DSbD Challenge - the Soteria Project.
Phil Wilson introduced The Hut Group, who is running the Soteria Project, and how they are contributing to this project and the wider Challenge.
After lunch, we were all introduced to the De Minimis projects - which are a group of 10 SME's working on smaller projects part of the DSbD Challenge.
This came in the form of 'speed dating' introductions, with each of the 10 projects having 10mins to give a synopsis of their work and research to the attendees.
After another coffee and networking break, there was a poster session on all the EPSRC projects to showcase their current research, and allow conversations to be held between other projects working on similar research.
The event was a great success, getting all those working on the DSbD Challenge to understand what work is taking place by other companies and projects, and allowing the beginning of wider network, where future communications could take place.
The Discribe Hub+ team want to thank all those who attended and contributed to the day, along with all our speakers and projects who helped make this event such a success!
