Focus:
Investigate the factors that influence firms’ decisions to adopt hardware that is digitally secure by design, with a particular focus on markets such as banking and energy that are subject to Open Data initiatives.

Goals:

  • Conduct original game-theoretic modelling work to explore what drives firms’ decisions to adopt hardware that is digitally secure by design and whether security adoption differs according to industry sector, threat actors or the stage of development of a company (start-ups vs. established firms)

  • Study the broader social and economic benefits that we derive from the adoption of secure technologies, building on input gathered from interviews with private and public sector entities

  • Derive policy implications by relating our conclusions back to the existing UK data governance framework in the Open Data context and through interactions with our industry partner LNDSR (https://lndsr.group/)
